Holistic alternatives- The Basics
- Don't overcomplicate health- listen to your intuition! But really allow yourself to listen to it without the noise of marketing. If it's not something that has ever been a natural or normal practice, chances are, it's a fad. Have faith in God's design of our bodies and natural resources. Medical advances have been possible thanks to the minds man has been gifted, but be wary of corruption.
- The stress from the anxiety to be perfect will also take a toll on well-being.
- 30 min fast-paced walks are an amazing form of exercise. Simply having an active everyday lifestyle through doing physical chores is also a good way to stay in shape without overstraining your body if you don't enjoy gym workouts (like me).
- Getting 15 minutes of unblocked late-morning sun is the best way to get vitamin D (the supplement should actually be avoided as it can mess with your hormones in an unnatural way, the same goes for melatonin supplements).
- Be skeptical of supplements, and first try to get your vitamin and mineral needs through real foods. Pasture-raised eggs and grass-fed beef are superfoods! The best "multivitamins" are eggs and beef liver.
- An ideal, balanced meal consists of a complex/starchy carb, high-quality protein, and fats (not trans fat). They all work to optimize each other.
- Grass-fed tallow, lard, 100% cold pressed avocado oil, and coconut oil is good for high-heat cooking. 100% pure cold-pressed olive oil is good for unheated uses. Avoid all other oils for consumption.
- Just because it has labels like "organic" "eco-friendly" or "natural" etc, doesn't necessarily mean it's healthy! Beware of greenwashing methods. Not just with food, but with fabrics too!
- There are good and bad things to eat. What you do and eat can either heal or harm. However, give yourself the grace to not have to be 100% clean, as nobody can be. Some follow an 80/20 rule. Focus on your personal needs and priorities. If others say you're being extreme, remember that it might seem that way to others, when it can be such a struggle to filter out the filth of this world.
- Not every good product is beneficial for every use. For example, coconut oil and shea butter has many beneficial uses, but applying to the skin is not one of them, as it is comedogenic
- If you're a woman with a cycle, be in tune with it so it can be your superpower.
- Don't let any one person or source be a be-all-end-all, always do your own thinking and research.
- The thoughts you put in your mind form you on a cellular and spiritual level- be careful what you let in.
- Discipline > motivational feelings
- Pray before you worry.
